Hi,
Once I have assembled an item, which works fine, I cannot edit the bill of material of thet item afterwards. It allows me to get into bill of materials, but the X for delete and the + for add does not appear and editing has no effect.
We need to change bills of material on a regular basis.
Please help.

Thanks

Changing your bill of materials is not allowed in an accounting system. The reason is related to tracking cost of goods sold. If your assembly changes then credit memos do not know what cost to use and you lose control of your inventory.

Once a journal entry has been made against the SKU, the BOM is blocked for changes. The way to handle this is to copy the SKU to a similar one and inactivate the old SKU, you can then edit the new SKU and make any necessary changes. This is also good for revision control and standardization of your processes.
