How can I assign a sales rep to a certain Sales Order without having them set up as users?

I do have the Sales reps set up as reps with a department.

Currently I can only choose myself as a sales rep at order entry.
One of the earlier releases I had set up I was able to see them in order entry but now I cannot. I am up to date on the releases.

THANK YOU!!!!! :)

I'll need to look into this. I debated between using users in the sales rep pull down and employees. I decided that users were better since I can populate the pull down when the form is created.

However, I'm open to suggestions on this one.

Thanks.... :)

The situation I have is reps are paid dependent on the distributors customer (Disti POS) - most often noted on the Disti PO making it easier to assign the sales rep at sales order entry but impossible to assign one rep for the Disti who is set up as the bill and ship to customer.

In a new sales order entry, would it be possible to default to the specific user/rep/employee set up during customer creation but then allow sales reps to be chosen with a pull down (override)?

I know, I'm a pain.

Hey Dave,

I posted in the Bugs forum about this and I was wondering if you might have answered this question already... This is almost exactly what i need to get done. Thanks for all your help. Take care.

I think I have solved what you are looking for. I have uploaded to svn (post Release 1.4) the ability to retrieve the default sales rep to the order screen after the customer is selected. You will need to create a user account and link it to a employee (identifed as a sales rep). After a customer is selected from the order screen, an AJAX call is made in the background to select the user id and the pull down is set. You can still select from other choices if necessary. I have added (next svn update) the ability to inactivate user accounts which will allow for reps to be linked, and therefore displayed in the drop-down but prohibit them from logging in.

Hey Dave.. just wanted to say thanks again for taking care of that Sales Rep issue. I haven't had too much luck with bringing my mods into the current version, but I need to get this done already so I guess I'll do a fresh install, bring the database over and re-implement my mods 1 at A time if needed. The invoice I have for my client is coming up to it's 1st birthday so I need to get it out the way already.. :) But you've been extremely helpful in making it possible. So thanks.. :) Take care.
