I'm planning to upgrade to the latest version (3.2). I saw that some people had some difficulties making that big of a jump, I think this is my 1st real upgrade since I did the initial install. Any suggestions on how to do this? Also, once I've completed the upgrade is there anything I can do to validate that everything processed correctly?

Thanks,

Tom

I made some improvements in 3.2 to help with upgrades. I recommend the following for this large of an upgrade:

1. Run your inventory and gl tools to verify balances and stock levels.
2. Back up you database and files.
3. Print your income statement and balance sheet to compare later.
4. Read CAREFULLY the upgrade.txt instructions in the root of 3.2. All you really need is the /includes/configure.php file and the my_files directory (and of course the db) if you have a standard installation. If you have a custom installation, you will need to make some programmatic changes.
5. Make sure everyone is out of the system.
6. Copy the 3.2 files to your server and log in. The upgrade should start automatically.
7. Go straight from 2.0 (or wherever) to 3.2. Each upgrade will be handled sequentially.
8. Print your income statement and balance sheet and compare with your pre-upgrade values.

Some of the known problems are reports not converting properly. You may have to delete your current reports and bulk import the new ones. One had a problem with reconciliation showing old transactions. This can usually be handled by re-reconciling to clear them.
