Build Manager #


The Manufacturing extension lets control your manufacturing process and mange inventory. The module maintains a journal of processes used to built your inventory assemblies. SKU templates and tasks are used to maintain control over your BOM and assembly process. 


From the main menu, navigate to: 
My Business -> Settings -> Services tab and press the Install button on the Manufacturing module section. You may need to log out and back in to reload the cache and register the module and initialize.

Note: This module will add two new menu items under the Inventory menu heading.

Security and Permissions

Once installed, access permissions must be set at the role level before users can access the module.  This module has two separate security settings, one for creating and editing build templates and another for assembling the inventory item.

Access levels for the assembly process: 

None – No access, module does not appear in the menu
Read Only – Users can review, print and complete steps as part of an assembly process.
Add – Users can create work orders,  complete steps 
Edit – Users can read, add, and edit work orders.
Delete – Full access to all features, read, add, edit and delete.

Access levels for the template process:

None – No access, module does not appear in the menu
Read Only – Users can review existing templates, including template details
Add – Users can create work order templates
Edit – Users can read, add, and edit work order templates.
Delete – Full access to all features, read, add, edit and delete.


This module does not have any user configurable settings.


The manufacturing module uses templates designed specifically for each SKU. The template is a series of tasks that define the assembly process. Only inventory items of type Assembly can be used to design templates. 

Work Order Assembly Process

Work Order Build Manager

Build Manager – The Manufacturing Manager build manager lists all work orders with their status and options. From here, work orders can be executed by manufacturing personnel, paper work orders printed, or deleted. 

New Work Order

Creating a work order – From Inventory -> Build Manager press the New icon. The Details accordion will expand and a blank for will be displayed. Select a SKU from the pull down (or type a few characters in the search box to refine the search) and the form will pre-fill with the title and steps necessary from the template. Enter the quantity to build and any notes and press the Save icon. If desired, attachments may be added to the work order, i.e. customer receipt, Serial number information, etc.

NOTE: If there are not enough parts from the BOM to build the desired number of SKU’s, an error message will be displayed listing the shortages. If there are enough parts a success message will briefly display notifying you that there are enough BOM components to build the desired number of SKU’s.

Work Order Build - In Process

Building an inventory item, steps, steps, steps – Processing a work order is as simple as filling out the necessary information required for each step. Once completed, the work order will close and the Manufacturing Module accordion will expand and refresh. If a task within the work order assembles the product, you will see stock available in the Inventory Manager.

Deleting a Work Order. From the manager, select the Trash icon in the action column next to the work order to delete, confirm your decision and the work order will be deleted. Work orders can also be deleted via the Details accordion when editing a work order.
